What to Expect on Your Private Charter

Looking to get out on the water with your own crew? Our Private Charters on the Gulfstream IV are the way to do it. Pick the time that works for your group — 8am, 9am, or 10am — and we'll take you straight into the kind of Key West fishing locals brag about.

Our captains and mates know these waters like the back of their hand. Snapper, cobia, amberjack, grouper — we've seen some record fish come over the rail, and we're happy to show you how it's done. Whether your people know their way around a rod or they've never held one, we'll get everyone set up and catching.

Private trips are perfect for bachelor parties, birthdays, family trips, work groups, incentives, you name it. It's basically a floating celebration with great fishing mixed in. You bring your food and drinks; we'll handle the rest.

If you want a laid-back, Key West day on the water with your favorite people and a pile of fish to show for it, this is your trip.

Private Charter vs. Shared Party-Boat Fishing

Same boat, same crew, same reef — the difference is who else is on board and who decides how the day runs.

    Private charter

    • • The whole boat belongs to your group
    • • Flat rate for the vessel, not per person
    • • You pick 8 AM, 9 AM or 10 AM
    • • Alcohol permitted; catering available on request
    • • Your own music, your own pace

    Shared party-boat seats

    • • You book seats and fish alongside other groups
    • • Priced per angler
    • • Set daily departure time
    • • Best value for one or two anglers
    • • Laid-back, sociable atmosphere

    Family Private Fishing Charters

Booking the boat privately is the easy answer for a family trip where the ages run from grandparents to first-graders. Nobody has to keep up with strangers, the crew can spend as long as it takes getting the youngest anglers rigged and reeling, and a five-hour trip is short enough that small kids are still having fun at the end of it.

The Gulfstream IV is 56 feet with a shaded cabin, a head on board and plenty of room to sit down, which matters far more with a family group than it does with a boat full of experienced anglers. Bring the snacks and drinks your crew actually wants, and we'll handle the fishing.

If it's just a couple of you rather than the whole family, a shared trip is the cheaper way to get the same reef fishing.

Group Fishing Charters, Events & Outings

With room for up to 45 guests, a private charter works as the main event for groups that would never fit on a handful of shared seats.

    Bachelor & bachelorette parties

One of the most common reasons groups book us. Alcohol is permitted, the crew runs the fishing, and everyone is back with time to spare for dinner on Duval.

    Corporate & work groups

Incentive trips, team outings and client days. A flat boat rate makes it simple to budget, and catering can be arranged on request.

    Birthdays & reunions

Milestone birthdays, family reunions and friends' trips where the whole group wants to be together on one boat instead of split up.

    Other private occasions

We also run private trips for ceremonies on the water and ash scattering services.

    Departure Options & Getting Here

Private charters depart at 8 AM, 9 AM or 10 AM, so you can start early and keep the afternoon free, or sleep in a little and still be back the same day. Pick the time that suits your group when you book.

We leave from Charter Boat Row in Key West. Plan to arrive about 30 minutes before your departure so the crew can get everyone aboard, cover the basics and leave on time — a private boat waits for your group, but the clock still starts at your scheduled departure.

Questions about dock directions, group sizes or catering? Text or call us — texting gets the fastest answer.

    Private Charter Questions

What's included in a private fishing charter?

Exclusive use of the 56-foot Gulfstream IV for 5 hours, captain and mate, all rods, reels, bait, tackle, and Florida saltwater fishing licenses for everyone aboard. Bring your own food and drinks (alcohol is welcome), or ask us about catering options.

How is a private charter different from a party boat?

A party boat trip is shared with other anglers (best price, $69.95/person). A private charter books the entire vessel for just your group — you pick the departure time, the music, and how you spend the day. See the full side-by-side comparison.

Are these fishing charters in the Florida Keys good for bachelor parties?

Yes — bachelor parties are one of the most common reasons people book us. The boat fits up to 45, you can BYO drinks, and the crew runs the fishing while you run the party. Plenty of deck space, shaded cabin, and a head onboard.

How far in advance should I book?

Two to three months is ideal for weekends and holiday weeks. We'll often have last-minute weekday availability, but the popular dates fill up — text or call us early.

What will we catch on a private Key West fishing charter?

Snapper (yellowtail, mangrove, mutton, lane), red and black grouper, jacks, mackerel, and the occasional cobia or amberjack. The monthly fishing report shows recent catches.

How much does a private fishing charter in Key West cost?

$2,000 for 1–25 guests and $2,200 for 26–45 guests. That's a flat rate for the whole boat for 5 hours, not a per-person price, and it includes the crew, gear, bait and fishing licenses.

How many people can we bring on a private charter?

Up to 45 guests on the 56-foot Gulfstream IV. Groups of 1–25 book at the $2,000 rate, and 26–45 guests at $2,200 — either way the boat is yours alone.

What time do private charters leave?

You choose an 8 AM, 9 AM or 10 AM departure for your 5-hour trip. Plan to arrive about 30 minutes early so we can get everyone aboard and leave on schedule.

Can we bring food and alcohol, or arrange catering?

Yes — guests are welcome to bring their own food and drinks, and alcohol is permitted on private charters. Catering is available on request, so just ask when you book if you'd rather have it handled for you.

Is a private charter good for a family with young kids?

It's the easiest option for a mixed-age family. The crew can take as long as it needs with the youngest anglers, the boat has a shaded cabin and a head aboard, and 5 hours keeps the day manageable for kids.
